Sevilla make loan move for Everton midfielder
La Liga team Sevilla have reportedly submitted a loan bid for Everton midfielder Aiden McGeady.
The 29-year-old has made no league appearances for Everton this season, and his only appearance so far in all competitions was n the Capital One Cup against Barnsley, where he was substituted at half time.
Sevilla are looking to meat the loan terms set by Everton, and a move to la Liga could give McGeady a chance to get more game time, and in turn have a better time playing football.
However, Everton have already sold one player in this transfer window in the shape of Steven Naismith, who sealed an £8.5million transfer to a struggling Norwich City, and scored on his debut for the team.
McGeady is still part of Republic of Ireland coach Martin O’Neill’s plans to play in the Euro 2016 tournament this year, and must debate whether to have more game time in the Championship, or fight for his place in the Sevilla squad.
Everton boss Roberto Martinez has said that if they sell anyone else, they may not be able to be replaced, due to the lack of time remaining in the transfer window, meaning that the move may be put on hold until the end of the season.
Roberto Martinez told the media:
I wouldn’t say we need to add just for the sake of it. In the window you always keep an eye on any of the players we have identified for a long, long time in the knowledge they could come in and help us. That is different.
I don’t feel there is something we need to find elsewhere or outside. It is inside that we need to get our team to perform in a very positive manner and get one or two good results and that could change our mindset completely.
