Deadline Day Live Blog: La Liga
Welcome to Read La Liga’s deadline day live blog.
We’ll be providing you with details about deals across Spain throughout the evening, with a number of clubs making their mark on the transfer window.
The drama isn’t over yet. It’s not a deadline day without a little bit of late rumours to send the Twittersphere into madness.
The Telegraph, who were first to report a move for Falcao back to Atletico Madrid now say it was close to happening, but fell through after terms couldn’t be agreed.
Now that the majority of transfers seem to have been announced, it’s time to go through the confirmed deadline day deals in La Liga.
In the most high-profile move of the day, Denis Cheryshev joined Valencia on loan from Real Madrid. Other major deals included Isaac Cuenca to Granada, Ikechukwu Uche being loaned to Malaga and Martin Montoya joining Real Betis.
Full list:
Ion Ansotegi (Real Sociedad to Eibar)
Martin Montoya (Barcelona to Real Betis – loan)
Denis Cheryshev (Real Madrid to Valencia – loan)
Ikechukwu Uche (Tigres to Malaga – loan)
Alvaro Pereira (Estudiantes to Getafe – loan)
Federico Fazio (Tottenham to Sevilla – loan)
Ricardo Costa (PAOK to Granada)
Federico Ricci (Roma to Malaga)
Joan Verdu (Fiorentina to Levante)
Lass (Rayo to Reims)
Abdoulaye Doucouré (Watford to Granada – loan)
Adalberto Peñaranda (Watford to Granada – loan)
Alfred Finnbogason (Real Sociedad to Augsburg – loan)
Isaac Cuenca (Bursaspor to Granada)
The two busiest clubs on deadline day are at it again.
This time it’s Granada, who have confirmed the signing of former Barcelona winger Isaac Cuenca on a free transfer. His contract with Bursaspor was cancelled earlier today.
Malaga have made another addition to their squad, and it’s a big one.
Ikechukwu Uche (you may remember him from Villarreal), has joined on loan from Mexican side Tigres.
Middlesbrough forward Kike could be about to return to Spain.
Guillem Balague says that a move to Eibar could be on the cards after the Teesiders signed Jordan Rhodes earlier today.
The loan deals are back in full swing.
Getafe have announced the signing of Alvaro Pereira from Argentinean side Estudiantes on a deal lasting until the end of the season. Once of Porto and Inter.
Argentina’s under-23s have the chance to win the title at the Olympic games for the second time in three attempts, but they’ll be doing it without Lionel Messi.
Coach Gerardo Martino says that the forward won’t be in the Olympic squad to avoid burnout. That decision could come back to bite them.
Manuel Pellegrini’s decision to leave Manchester City was only announced this morning, but a return to La Liga has already been talked about.
The Telegraph believe that Valencia is a possible destination for the Chilean.
Would he be welcomed back into La Liga with open arms?
Granada have made another addition to their squad, with former Valencia defender Ricardo Costa signing an 18-month contract.
He only left Los Che two seasons ago and played in Qatar and Greece in-between.
A Barcelona and Valencia target looks like he could be on his way to China…
Ezequiel Lavezzi is closing in on a move to Shanghai Shenhua. Could that mean that Barcelona will go in for Nolito again come the summer?
They’re coming thick and fast now…
Levante have signed former Betis, Depor and Barcelona midfielder Joan Verdu, while Federico Ricci joins Malaga from AS Roma.
Will we be seeing any more late deals?
THE SIGNINGS HAVE RETURNED! Forgive us for being slightly excited, but we’ve been waiting a while!

The people behind Rayo’s social media appear to have forgotten the fact their side conceded a second goal against Depor tonight.
Whoops.

Arsene Wenger revealed earlier that he wouldn’t say no to Lionel Messi if he knocked on his door today.
Time is fast running out for you, Mr. Wenger…
Rayo are on course for a point at Riazor, but there’s not many of their fans there to see it. In fact, just 10 fans made the trip to the North-West of Spain:

Premier League side Watford have been busy today in deals involving Granada. Adalberto Peñaranda has joined the Hornets on a four-and-a-half year deal, but he’ll stay on loan with Granada until the end of next season.
Abdoulaye Doucouré has also joined Watford from Rennes, and has been loaned out again to Granada until the end of this season.
Double bonus in El Grana’s bid for La Liga survival.
It’s not quite Falcao, but Valencia have confirmed the loan signing of Denis Cheryshev from Real Madrid!
Gary Neville is a busy man towards the end of this window.

It looks like not all of you think the Falcao deal is dead and buried just yet…will Valencia make him their third signing in the last 48 hours?
@ReadLaLiga Falcao seems to be attracting interest with Mendes shopping him around to anyone who will take him

Among all the deadline day deals in Spain, there’s still football going on! Deportivo are currently playing Rayo at Riazor, with Rayo currently leading 2-1 with just 23 minutes on the clock. Can Paco Jemez’s men climb out of the bottom three?
Well, those rumours were shot down pretty quickly. Valencia and Atleti moves both out of the question for Falcao.
Way to spoil the fun, Guillem…
I have been told by Valencia and Atletico that Falcao is not joining them. Chelsea/Mendes will look elsewhere

Could there be a surprise reunion between Diego Simeone and Radamel Falcao at Atletico Madrid?
The Telegraph say that the Madrid side are interested in a loan deal for the Chelsea forward.
Surely not?

It’s been loan deals galore in Spain today! First, Sevilla rolled back the years to bring in Federico Fazio until the end of the season, while Martin Montoya joined Real Betis from Barcelona (via Inter).
