Barcelona have in the past week held talks with the agent and brother of Paris Saint-Germain star Marquinhos in hopes that they can prise away the talented Brazilian in the summer transfer window.
As reported by Goal, discussions were held in the Catalan capital between agent Giuliano Bertolucci and the player’s brother Luan Aoas as speculation continues to mount that the 21-year-old could leave the newly-crowned French champions.
Since joining Les Parisiens in 2013 from Roma, the highly regarded centre-half has struggled to break into the first team ahead of fellow national compatriots David Luiz and Thiago Silva and has so far managed 67 appearances in all competitions for Laurent Blanc’s side.
However, Barcelona have not been the only side to register their interest in Marquinhos as Manchester United also enquired into the services of the player last summer but saw their advances rebuffed.
Luis Enrique is keen to bolster his defence as former Arsenal defender Thomas Vermaelen has struggled for fitness since joining in 2014 that has resulted in Javier Mascherano being converted into a centre-half to partner Gerard Pique.
PSG are unwilling to allow the player to leave, however, the salary demands of the player were apparently set out during the meeting with Marquinhos asking for £3.5million a year plus a £2.3million signing-on fee.
