Real Madrid are set to demand £60 million for Morata
Manchester United could be priced out of the race to sign Alvaro Morata, with the Spanish side demanding upwards of £60 million, according to the Mirror.
Real Madrid were keen to sign David de Gea, however, the Red Devils refused to sell him. Therefore, the Blancos will be determined to ensure that Morata does not make the move to Manchester on the cheap.
Jose Mourinho is determined to sign the Spanish international, but the asking price may put him off.
The 24-year-old has told the Champions League winners that he would like to leave the club this summer because he is not happy with his role.
However, Madrid are in no rush to sell their back-up striker and the sum of money that the Old Trafford club will have to pay will be more than they wanted.
Mourinho is unlikely to sign his other striking target, Romelu Lukaku, as he wants to return to Chelsea.
The Reds’ are in desperate need of another forward, after releasing Zlatan Ibrahimovic yesterday. The 35-year-old played out his 12-month contract, after falling succumb to a serious knee injury in April. He made 46 appearances and scored 28 goals.
It is now up to United to decide if the Spaniard is worth the value that Madrid believe him to be.
