Suarez insists Real Madrid aren’t their only title rivals
As reported by Marca, Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has admitted that winning against their great rivals Real Madrid will boost them towards the La Liga title, but they’re not the only title challengers that they should worry about.
The former Liverpool man spoke about Los Blancos after their thumping win over Deportivo as he helped his side win 4-0 on Sunday, which saw the Catalan giants go eleven points clear at the top of the table.
Suarez spoke about what a possible win against Real Madrid at the Bernabeu would do for Barcelona’s title chances, and why Madrid aren’t the only challengers this season in La Liga.
It would be a boost to win at the Bernabeu. However, there are other challengers. Valencia and Atletico Madrid are both pushing us.
The Uruguayan international could be correct with regards to his comments, as although Barcelona have a big gap between them and second-placed Madrid, the chasing pack behind them are not too far off.
Suarez also spoke about his personal form after securing a brace on Sunday.
I’m happy to help the group. I just want to keep contributing. I also want to improve on a personal level.
The 30-year-old started the season slowly, however, he has improved of late, scoring nine goals and assisting once this season. These figures are normal for a striker, but someone like Suarez will want to improve his goalscoring tally due to his previous records.
Suarez has the opportunity to increase his tally before the winter break with a short trip to the Bernabeu at the weekend.
