Real Madrid give update on James Rodriguez injury
Real Madrid have confirmed on their official website that midfielder James Rodriguez has suffered a muscle injury to his left leg.
James was on the team sheet for Real’s 1-1 draw against Eibar, but pulled out of the warm up and was replaced by Mateo Kovacic.
The severity of his injury is not yet known, with Real not giving a timescale as to when the player will return, or if he will even miss a game.
MARCA say that James Rodriguez may even still receive a call-up to the Colombian national team for their 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Paraguay and Uruguay, with a long travel hardly likely to help the player’s recovery.
James has started just two league games for Real this season, due to the rise in form of youngster Marco Asensio, who has kept both James and Isco out of the starting XI.
Real are out of action for the next 12 days due to internationals, and with the hope that James’ injury isn’t a serious one, the Colombian could be in contention for their game away at Betis.
Los Blancos will be hoping to get back to winning ways after drawing all of their last four games, three of which have come in La Liga.
