As usual, there have been critics out for Cristiano Ronaldo since the beginning of the season and as we know, they often cite his age and performance, but he always proves them wrong.
The level of criticism has reached the idea of either letting Ronaldo leave Madrid or even consider retirement. Ronaldo started his turn in form after the match against Real Sociedad’s right before meeting Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.
The Portuguese international has found the net 12 times in the Champions League, meaning he is the top scorer in the competition and is now only three goals away from Lionel Messi, who is currently the top scorer of La Liga.
Ronaldo has shown everyone that he is still one of the top players in football, especially after his last match when the Portuguese player fired four stunning goals against Girona.
Though he was not at the best form at the start of the season, Zinedine Zidane’s trust and confidence in Ronaldo was clear through every single match and that confidence demonstrates he is still a major part of the team.
Since the start of 2018, Ronaldo played 15 matches scoring 18 goals in La Liga and three goals in the Champions League.
Dolores, Ronaldo’s mother, has also sent a strong message to those critics expressing what he has achieved so far in a picture and stated in her message that his age is nothing that could affect his skills and hard work.
If Ronaldo keeps up this motivation and performance until the end of the season, he could be in competition once again with Lionel Messi for individual awards.
